Hong Kong / Japan Vacation 2007

Here are the pictures to me and Elena’s trip to HK -> Tokyo -> Kyoto.

The password is the city I live in.

“CLICK ME FOR PICTURES”

Also, here are the videos we took during our trip. Enjoy.

This first batch of vids are from the Hong Kong leg of the trip.

This was on a day trip to china, where we went to visit Elena’s cousin and uncle.

Our hotel room in Tokyo.

Taking a stroll on a sunday in Tokyo

The fish market in Tokyo early in the morning. All the restaurants come here to buy their fish for the day.

In a department store where they have all these fancy desserts.

Tokyo at night

At a park near the Harajuku area. Lots of street performing bands line the side walks and try to sell their CD’s.

These were videos we took at a super fancy sushi bar we went to. There weren’t too many shots of food because we just kept eating it right after the chef served it to us. It was really good.

This was a more down to earth restaurant we stumbled across. It was more for busy business men that needed a quick place to eat. When we got there it was pretty empty though.

Waiting for our train to Kyoto.

On our way to a whole bunch of temples, we had to walk through this bamboo forest.

Walking back from visiting the temples, Elena gets snappy with me.

We also visited this castle in Kyoto called the Nijo-jo castle. Inside were floors that squeaked when you walked on it, to detect intruders.

Man vs. Nature

I just cannot believe there is such a show out there.

I’d say, Animal 1, Man -1, for watching this.

Sumo vs. Oranagutan in a tug o war

Little People vs. Elephant in towing a plane

Runner vs. Giraffe and Zebra

Why Japan kicks so much ass, and Kobayashi is the one doing the kicking

What if i told you “There is a guy out there, that had a hotdog eating competition against a bear”. What would your first reaction be? If you answered “holy shit, i have to see this” well your in luck, because here it is:

Although he’s lost his world title, i have faith that he will regain it one day.

For more Kobayashi action, here are more vids of him in his element (note: they are mostly in japanese, but who cares, it’s just a guy eating a lot of food, how much understanding do you need):

Him eating against some nerdy looking girl (feel kinda bad for her, cuz he just ripped her apart):

Here he drank 25 bottles of coffee:

and in this one he’s just eating whatever:

Animaniacs had a lot of cool songs

If you watched animaniacs, you may remember an episode where Yakko sang the nations of the world:

Well, i vaguely remembered this, but then i came across this:

I don’t know if this is cool, or sad.  But nonetheless, it’s a catchy song.

Well this lead to some more digging, and well, i’ll just let you watch:

US Presidents

Universe Song

Ballad of Magellan

Variety Speak

Why Pinky and the Brain was, and still is, so awesome.

Having the previous post list some of my favorite cartoons, I thought it would only be fair to dedicate a whole post on one of the best cartoons out there.

While searching for some old pinky and the brain episodes, I came across this interview with the voice actors of pinky and the brain, discussing how they came up with their voices, and the episode which won them an emmy (which i did not know about, but now that i do, it makes them that much better).

Cartoons nowadays suck, why, when i was young….

It’s true, cartoons nowadays suck.  I mean, don’t you all remember back in the days when Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd ruled the early golden era of afternoon cartoons.  Then came shows like Thundercats, and Transformers.  Then a few years later there were Animaniacs, Tiny Toons and so on.

Honestly, the last good cartoon i remember were ones from fox, like spider man, x-men and batman.  And i’m talking about the first edition ones, not the new spiderman and xmen cartoons, which by the way, suck ass in my opinion.

Well, in some twisted need in myself to relive my childhood, here are some of my favorite cartoons.

He-man: I don’t care what you think now, but back then, He-man was the shit.  I had the whole fucking mountain skeletor lived in and played with it for hours, but for some reason, i lost it over the years.  To this day, that is probably the toy i regret loosing the most.

Thundercats: I really don’t know why i liked this so much.  I just thought the sword and glove that Lion-O had was so badass.

Prostars: This one was an obscure one, but I really liked it when it first came out.  It was basically about a team of superstars, Micheal Jordon, Wayne Gretzky, and Bo Jackson, who went around saving kids from danger, using cool gadgets.  The one thing i remember the most was that Wayne Gretzky ate alot.

Ducktales: This was like the “Price is Right” of cartoons.  It’s what you watched when nothing else was on.

Animaniacs: Pinky and the Brain.  ’nuff said.

oh…your still here?

good god…it’s been a month since i’ve last made a post.

You know, you’d think that making posts on a blog is a really easy thing to do, but i’ve realized that i’m just a really really lazy person.  I mean, over the past month, there have been times where i’d find something interesting, or come up with an interesting idea to post about, but after that initial phase, the rest of it sinks in.

“hmm…now I actually have to sit down and write about it…hmmm, I wonder what’s on TV…ooo, rerun of simpsons, this was a good one.”

And so on.

Anyways, this is just to let anyone who’s actually reading this know, that I haven’t forgotten this site, and here’s to hoping I’ll have enough patience to post more useless things.

Ovechkin’s a jerk…

…Joe Thorton’s a thief and Sidney Crosby is Jerry Seinfeld (a la the disgruntled “Newman!” catch phrase)?

Here’s a new commercal from the NHL. The first time i saw it, I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s always nice to see a lighter side to million dollar players.

beatbox + flute + inspector gadget + axel f = not bad?

What would you think about a video that had all that?  Must be crap.  well…not quite

Never seen a beatboxing flute guy before, but hey, that’s what the internet’s for, most random stuff.

so cute you’ll get a nose bleed

aawwwwwwwww……

but in all seriousness folks, i think this kid’s got the right attitude.  I mean, if somebody’s gonna kick your ass, you’ve really got no choice but to kick his ass first.

That’s a life lesson this little girl has learned early on.  She’s gonna get far.
